SEPTEMBER 23, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, ON – The Honourable Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives, issued the following statement on the Chuseok:

“Today, Koreans in Canada and around the world will celebrate the Chuseok holiday.

“Chuseok is a time of thanksgiving that is often celebrated by gathering with loved ones and sharing traditional feasts and stories

“For many Koreans, Chuseok serves as a time to remember the importance of family values and tradition, that are so widely shared in our core principles in Canada.

“Since the Korean War, in which more than 26 000 Canadians served in Korea, Canada and South Korea have shared an important relationship based on mutual admiration and respect. It was also under our previous Conservative government that our two nations signed the historic Canada-South Korea Free Trade Agreement.

“Chuseok provides an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the contributions of Canada’s vibrant Korean community.

“On behalf of Canada’s Conservatives, I would like to wish all Koreans and their families a happy Chuseok!”
